So, Casino Drive comes off a maiden win in Japan and scampers away from a reasonably good field at Belmont and does 1-1/8 in 1:47 and makes it look easy. I hope Michael Tabor is dancing a jig because I think he owns the dam, Better Than Honour. Only one guy knows which horse may be better: Kent Desormeaux. He said he that Casino Drive has ‘the stride’. Well, it’s four weeks away.
There seems to be general agreement that thoroughbred breeders have to change their ways or they will breed themselves right out of a sport. It’s like many public arenas (commodities, real estate, hedge funds): awash in money chasing a return. There is no respect for the underlying asset and what it means.
