Why does the WAPO publish this guy?

William Kristol has decided, on the basis of two glaringly right-skewing polls that all is lovely in conservative-land.  He also ignores some other polls that show 80% of the body politic disavows ‘republicanism’.  Sorry for the lack of concrete references.  If you follow politics, you know the polls I’m talking about (and sorry for the dismal grammar).  What amazes me is that Kristol operates in an evidence-free zone and proclaims that the day of deliverance is at hand (disclaimers notwithstanding).  The Post has to know this, and they still gave him a contract after a disreputable showing at the NYT.  What are they thinking?
